good things, moving. Let’s talk freight

Field notes / pickup to delivery

Pack it. Check it.
Keep the details.

A few checks before pickup and at receiving can make a shipment easier to manage. Use this as a starting point, alongside the requirements confirmed by your carrier and packaging specialist.

Before pickup

Choose packaging suited to the product, weight and expected handling. Support the load, protect vulnerable surfaces and keep the goods secured within the handling unit. Ask about fragile, unusual or valuable items before assuming standard pallet packaging is enough.

Measure what is actually shipping

Record the outside dimensions of the finished package or pallet, including any projections, and the packed weight. The shipment description and labels should match the booking information. Photograph the packed goods and labels before collection.

Get the handoff ready

Confirm the pickup reference, site contact, loading arrangements and shipment documents. If the freight, packaging or access has changed since quoting, tell the desk before pickup so the provider can review the changes.

At delivery

Have someone check the shipment as it arrives. Compare the piece count and look for visible damage or shortages. Record specific observations on the delivery paperwork and take clear photos. Follow the applicable provider process and contact us promptly if anything is wrong.

If you discover a problem

Keep the packaging, relevant goods, delivery documents, photos and purchase/value records available. Tell us when and how the issue was found. We can help identify the appropriate provider claim process and required documents. Do not assume a damage note alone is a filed claim; requirements and deadlines vary.

When to ask for a more specific plan

High-value, fragile, temperature-sensitive, oversized or hazardous goods need shipment-specific review. Packaging, monitoring, insurance options and transport acceptance should be discussed before booking; this guide is not a substitute for those requirements.
